Sketching Exercise: Mirror Sketch

This sketching exercise is called Mirror sketch. I was first introduced to this technique in a book called "drawing on the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards.

This is what it looks like when you are done.
You start by first drawing a big capital I like this

on one side you or a friend draws a simple doddle. The next step is to draw that doddle backward on the other side of the I.
This exercise will open your mind and allow you to see things better as you start drawing your figures. It is good to do this exercise for a few minutes before you start sketching.

I found this great exercise in a book called "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" It also has a lot of other great point in to help you draw and get inspired.

Here is an affiliate link to the book on amazon. http://amzn.to/1Pf2qAG . By buying the book through this link you support me and help me write more articles like this one. Thanks for reading and look forward to new posts in the future.
